My first blog post of the new year, and the new decade! May I wish you, Dear Reader, a very happy, healthy, and successful 2010
Today I want to remind you of something I recommend as part of my Take 7 Steps course, and that is to align yourself with a Mastermind group. Ploughing a furrow all alone in this field of dreams that is profitable betting, can at times be soul destroying. For sure it can also be most rewarding. A tax free supplementary income, even freedom from the 9 to 5 altogether, and so on. If you’re anything like me, those are the prime reasons for pursuing this path. But for much of the time it can be a solitary existence.
With no-one to bounce your ideas and strategies off, it is difficult to measure your success, or correct bad habits or misinformed ideas. Which is why I recommend becoming part of a group or community, perhaps on a forum, or following individuals whose opinions and teachings you trust and respect. They may not always be right, but importantly you know they have your interests at heart.
I’ve compiled a list of ten such individuals I respect and trust. Many of these good chaps I suspect you will know and be aware of already. Some may be new to you. This list is not exhaustive, and I imagine you can nominate a good number more. In fact please do by way of leaving comments below. The list is in no particular order of merit, other than alphabetical.
1. Matt Bisogno writes the superb GeeGeez blog. He is a genuine punters champion, writes many truly engaging articles, as well as keeping his readers amused throughout the year. Visit his blog at www.GeeGeez.co.uk
2. Jonathan Burgess is an accredited Betfair trainer and the author of the False Favourites betting guide. He will always go the extra mile to help fellow punters make sensible and ultimately profitable betting decisions. Visit his web site at www.False-Favourites.co.uk
3. James Fitzmaurice maintains the Betting System Truths blog and has to be one of the hardest working officers in the betting systems Police force! His site is primarily a reviews blog, but effectively serves as a forum as well. Visit his site at www.BettingSystemTruths.com
4. Graham Laurie writes one of the longest running and most frequented review blogs on the internet. Admirably aided by a team of volunteer reader reviewers he continues to report on most new betting systems to hit the market. Visit his site at www.Cash-Master.com/blog
5. Henry McAnenly is a freelance racing journalist, and author of several best-selling systems. He also researches horse racing trends and publishes his work in the reference manual Success Leaves Clues twice a year.
6. Sam McCallon is a name with which you may not be familiar. He maintains the Online Racing Review blog, which has been running since April 2009. Sam dedicates a great deal of his spare time to test betting systems for the benefit of his readers, whilst also working full-time. You can visit his site at www.OnlineRacingReview.com
7. Darren Power is the name behind the Betting School Insiders Club. The Betting School goes beyond horse racing, covers betting in many other sports, and benefits from contributions from several guest writers. You can visit Darren’s web site at www.Betting-School.com
8. Gavin Priestley runs the blog at NagNagNag and is the editor of two noteworthy research products called TrainerTrackStats and Festival Trends. At the time of writing, Gavin appears to be on a sabbatical from writing, to return before the Cheltenham Festival. 9. Dave Renham writes for the Punters Profits web site and provides the Racing Trends service. He is one of the most well respected horse racing research experts and his work regularly features in the specialist newspaper Racing And Football Outlook. You can visit his site at www.PunterProfits.com
10. Matt Watson is last on my list, but by no means least. Matt is a pro-bettor himself, and creator of the Favourites Phenomenon System for which he is perhaps best known.
