Something tells me you’re just… well… smarter than most people looking to make money from their betting.
You’re not interested in those pathetic “get rich quick” schemes. You’re not looking for a magic Holy Grail miracle betting system that involves no work, no time, and no common sense.
In other words, you don’t have to be a genius to “get” this stuff. But you’d have to be dumb to believe some of the stuff peddled online by many of the other betting “gurus”.
This is a road map for the frustrated punter…

The four pillars of betting success
SkyBlueKangaroo has been delivering free online betting advice for nearly 8 years, and we’ve found four themes that keep coming up.
So we created a series that works through these four themes, systematically introducing you to the most important concepts we think every serious betting enthusiast must know about. It’s a 10-part course in making your betting pay that prepares you for the more in-depth newsletter content that follows (still all free).
These are the cornerstones of how to be a successful bettor using the SkyBlueKangaroo approach, using everything we’ve learned over the years. Are you ready?
Pillar 1: Psychology
What’s the first thing you need to make a profit from betting?
It’s a killer collection of betting systems, right?
Wrong!
Betting systems are important, I agree they are fundamental to your success, and we discuss how to win using betting systems in many of the tutorials here. But I know people who’ve been following tipsters, collecting betting systems, studying statistics and developing their own methods for years, yet still lose money.
More important, in my opinion, is to get your head right. Developing a professional mind-set is the key.
Pillar 2: Value Betting
We certainly stay abreast of the latest handicapping and race rating trends (and sometimes create them), but underlying everything we do here is solid value betting techniques.
The only way to make a profit from betting on horse racing, is to resist chasing winners. Instead, you’ll benefit in the long run when you consistently back horses at prices too high compared to their actual chance of winning. That’s value betting.
Of course, that begs the question ‘how then, do you assess the true chance of a horse winning?’ We revisit this particular conundrum time and time again. It’s what makes betting on horses such a challenging puzzle, as there is no right or wrong answer. It’s the ultimate theatre for debate! And you’re invited.
Your goal should be to be right enough times, and at the right prices, to come out in profit at the end of the season. You’ll be inspired to reach your profit goals right here with us.
Pillar 3: Money Management
In many ways the losing punter is like the over-weight bloke, who sets out on January 1st with every good intention of losing his beer gut. He has a few salads, maybe even pays a visit to the gym. But more often than not come February he is back to his comfortable eating habits, and the weight continues to pile on.
And it will often be the same with the average punter – he has developed bad habits that have, over time, contributed to a steady flow of money out of his bank account and into the cash-till of his local bookmakers.
To become a winning punter he must change his ways.
Over the next few weeks, together we’re going to examine some of the bad betting habits that contribute to an unhealthy bank balance. And of course, we’re going to put you into training. We’ll give you specifics on how to become a lean, mean, money-making machine once you’re on board.
Pillar 4: Developing A Portfolio Of Betting Systems
This is where the rubber meets the road – betting systems that work.
All horse racing systems and methods go through cycles of profit and loss. Betting systems suffer frustrating losing runs, and if they make a profit at all, it’s returned in a largely unpredictable manner.
It makes sense to smooth out all the peaks and troughs by developing a portfolio of methods and strategies that together produce a net profit at the end of any significant period.
So the smart punter will develop a number of systems and strategies, that he can manage comfortably, that also match his betting temperament, and fit in with his schedule.
We’ll give you actionable ideas and tactics. Thoughts and tools to help you create your own unique betting systems and strategies.
Bringing it all together
Each of these four pillars enhances the others. Together, they’re much stronger than they would be if any of the pillars were missing.
Smart Betting is a free 10-part course and an ongoing newsletter that’s delivered by email. Each week you’ll get a new lesson on one of the four pillars. You’ll get lots of pointers to archived SkyBlueKangaroo content, but with a new perspective that will help you “connect the dots” and start putting this advice to work in your betting activities.
Of course, our advice will be supplemented and ever-evolving as the horse racing and betting space changes online (which is fast).
To make it work even better, I’ll also be including “over the shoulder” lessons that show you how I put my own strategies into practice, with varying degrees of success!
What next…?
When you join my mailing list – it’s free – I’ll send you a message around once a week with what’s new at SkyBlueKangaroo and at my personal blog.
A couple of times during the course of the year I’m going to encourage you to consider buying one of my books, or perhaps paying to watch a seminar. But I won’t spam you, and you won’t open my emails to find that every other message is asking you to buy something. That’s a promise!
And you can cancel your subscription at any time with a couple of clicks. Sound fair?

It’s very important to me that everyone receiving SkyBlueKangaroo truly wants the newsletter, so I’m going to need you to confirm that you want to receive it by clicking a link in an email you’ll receive after signing up.
So check your inbox and put me on your white list… because thanks to some less-than-ethical internet marketers, our topic is sometimes viewed with suspicion by the major email services. And of course I’m never going to rent, sell, or otherwise share your email address. That would pretty much be a violation of everything I stand for.
If you’re active on the popular social networks, you’ll find more free content when you connect with me on Facebook or follow me on Twitter. You can add me to your circles on Google+ and there’s plenty to watch on the YouTube channel.
