Fingers crossed

Fingers crossed we have seen the last of the snow. Jump racing made a welcome return over the weekend, and those horses with form in testing conditions relished the heavy going as the frost turned to mud. My pick for the Lanzarote Hurdle Aachen held a prominent position until three flights out when he weakened quickly before being pulled up. The winner Michael Flips was cruising for most of the trip and stayed on very well for an impressive victory.

I did enjoy some success Saturday afternoon, as one of my trending selections Bridge Of Gold came home at Lingfield at 6/1

Most of the top class racing this week comes from Ireland, and we will have to wait until Saturday to see the best of the British action. Ascot hosts the Victor Chandler Chase (registered as the Clarence House Chase). It’s a Grade One event, and has attracted a thoroughly competitive field of speedy chasers, many of which we will see lining up for the Champion Chase in March. Twist Magic will likely start as favourite, but he will be up against tough opposition in the form of Petit Robin and Well Chief.

Also on Saturday afternoon, Haydock sees this year’s running of the Peter Marsh Chase. A stayers handicap over a three mile trip that is bound to be a competitive betting heat for punters to get stuck into.

Watch this space come Friday when I will focus my attention upon at least one of those races a bit further.

Between now and then you can expect to see an update on the ‘Betting Against Horses For Profit’ and ‘Hot Horses’ reviews, and also a post on Wednesday that I hope will make you just a little wiser in the betting department.
